Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Austrian Classic Music
Wolfgang Amadeus (Gottlieb) Mozart was born
on Januar the 27th 1756, in Salzburg (Mozart´s world famous birth-house: Getreidegasse 9). He was the son of Leopold (one of Europe´s most popular musical teachers) and Anna Maria
Pertl Mozart. As “Wunderkind” Mozart soon composed his first works of symphonic, chamber, piano, operatic, and choral music and travelled to the courts of Europe. Later Mozart fell
out of favour with his employer Prince-Archbishop Colloredo and finally chose to settle in Vienna and died there in 1791. He left behind some of his most important compositions: The
Marriage of Figaro or Cosi fan tutte; opera seria, such as Idomeneo or Don Giovanni; and Die Zauberfloete. 2006 is celebrated as the year of
Mozart (Mozartgedenkjahr) in many cities around Europe, especially in Salzburg (festival) and Vienna.
